Smash Bros. Brawl Character Leak

Published by Flint under Games, News

It looks like Ness and Jigglypuff are going to be returning along with a newcomer: Lucario.

If you recall last Friday’s Japan Time, the Power-Up functionality of Stickers was revealed (for use in Adventure Mode). Take special note of these images directly from that update:

In the first image, notice the half-cutoff “U”. In the second image, notice the small icons of character faces (Kirby, Meta Knight, and Dedede). Evidently, this represents which specific characters are allowed to use the selected sticker. The “U” is probably the start of “Usable by:” and this phrase was probably editted out of the second image to avoid revealing too many details. But it seems like that plan didn’t work out so well.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Goes Gold

Published by Flint under Games, News

Awesome news.

It seems the Super Smash Brothers Brawl has finished development and is now in the printing stage (mass production of the game discs). In the video game industry, this is called “going gold”. However, it seems many people on the Internet are choosing to be skeptical. I don’t understand this. Are you guys really THAT paranoid that the game will be delayed again? Do you really find it THAT difficult to trust a site without an official source? Put down the pitchforks and put away the tinfoil hats. Brawl was recently playable at the latest convention (I don’t even remember what it was.. E3?) and has a scheduled release in Japan in less than a month. You’d have to be the most hopeless cynic to still believe at this point that Brawl will be delayed a second time.

Also in game news: the Nintendo DS has surpassed the Playstation 2 in lifetime sales. In the four years the DS has been on the market, it has sold 20,954,157 units, compared to the 20,901,468 PS2s sold in the past seven years. (Numbers from Media Crate, transcribed here.) Way to go.

R.I.P. CompUSA

Published by Flint under News

Whoa, I just heard about this earlier today.

Apprently, the computer store CompUSA is going out of business and closing up all of its shops. . . all 103 of them. Yeah, I don’t really understand that number - there’s only 103 CompUSAs in America? Is it just a regional thing, like Chik Fil A?

The stores will close after the holidays as the result of a sale to another company, Gordon Brothers Group. I’ve never really shopped at CompUSA, but I think I will try to take advantage of the upcoming going-out-of-business sales.
