Smash Bros. Brawl Character Leak

Published by Flint at 11:38 am under Games, News

It looks like Ness and Jigglypuff are going to be returning along with a newcomer: Lucario.

If you recall last Friday’s Japan Time, the Power-Up functionality of Stickers was revealed (for use in Adventure Mode). Take special note of these images directly from that update:

In the first image, notice the half-cutoff “U”. In the second image, notice the small icons of character faces (Kirby, Meta Knight, and Dedede). Evidently, this represents which specific characters are allowed to use the selected sticker. The “U” is probably the start of “Usable by:” and this phrase was probably editted out of the second image to avoid revealing too many details. But it seems like that plan didn’t work out so well.

Yesterday, this video was found on the Japanese Wii website [here]. At about 4:20 the video briefly mentions the Stickers feature. In the video, the player passes the cursor over the Groudon sticker and then over the sticker of the Earthbound boy (I don’t want to say Lucas because I can’t tell, and I’m unfamiliar with Earthbound - SORRY!). At these moments, the screen shows the icons of the characters these stickers are “usable by”. When the cursor is over Groudon, the faces are (left to right) Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, and then what can only be Lucario and Jigglypuff! The next instant, when the cursor is over the Earthbound character, the faces are Ness and Lucas.

If you would try to watch the video now, you’ll probably see nothing. It is assumed that Nintendo realized their mistake and went in to edit the video, whiting out the face icons. But the editting job is faily poor, and if you inch along in the video, you can still catch the incriminating frames:

The Internet was widely anticpating one of these characters to be announced with today’s Dojo Update, but was instead presented with Princess Zelda’s Final Smash: Light Arrow.

Also, I should go ahead and say it. I WAS WRONG. I said in my post about Brawl going Gold that there was no way it would be delayed again, and it happened just a couple weeks ago. OH WELL.
