HoTI Supports FCC’s Investigation of Comcast’s Blocking
view the story | digg story
Hands Off The Internet, a group opposed government-regulated network neutrality, is actually siding with the supporters of the cause.. at least for the moment. They are supporting the FCC’s investigation over the recent fiasco involving Comcast’s blocking of Bittorrent activity.
“Network neutrality advocates and the industry-funded lobby groups that oppose it in Washington rarely agree on issues, especially when those issues involve network filtering or throttling. That’s what makes last week’s letter from Hands off the Internet (a telco-backed group opposed to government network neutrality regulations) such a surprise. The group told FCC Chairman Kevin Martin that it supported an FCC investigation into Comcast’s alleged BitTorrent blocking.”

Ubisoft Threatens to Sue Something Awful Over Jade Raymond Comic
(Edit 11-16): I stand corrected, SA isn’t responsible for the comic. SA is just the one of the many hosts of the image that Ubisoft targeted. Not that this makes any difference to Ubisoft, of course.
Honestly, I can’t wait to see how this turns out. Whoever wins, I’ll laugh.
In a nutshell: Jade Raymond is a game producer for UbiSoft (Rainbow Six, Prince of Persia) with a freakish smile and is, supposedly, the brains behind the game Assassin’s Creed. She’s also a woman. She’s getting just as much (if not more) publicity as the game itself.. I guess because of her inability stop smiling or something. Everything I find online involves some really shallow interview with her, which of course focuses a lot more on her rather than the game she’s promoting. Anyway, somebody over at Something Awful drew up a comic mocking her and the attention she’s attracting due to her attractive (albeit slightly spooky) appearance and charm. If you’re really that curious, you can Google “Jade Raymond comic” and you’ll most likely find it. Evidently Jade or her people found it, and are less than amused. Anybody who knows anything about Something Awful or Lowtax knows that only hilarity will ensue, regardless of which path this goes.
